“I’m a Barbie girl…”

Bright, Bold, and Beautifully Curvy is now all the rage at Mattel.

On January 28, Mattel released three new body types in addition to the Original: Petite, Tall, and—wait for it—Curvy. Each one is available in different skin and hair color combinations, and many have a flatfooted option (in case a lifetime of heels ain’t your thing). “By introducing more variety into the line, Barbie is offering girls choices that are better reflective of the world they see today. The new 2016 Barbie Fashionistas collection includes 4 body types, 7 skin tones, 18 eye colors, 18 hairstyles, and countless on-trend fashions and accessories,” as addressed on Mattel’s website.  This is a big step in the direction we would like our young children to grow up in. Getting them acclimated in a world that is diverse and excepting of all shapes, color, size and gender.

This is just a clear sign that Curve is taking over the fashion world in 2016 and the years to come. Ashley Graham is a clear example of that, strutting down the runway showing off her curves and confidence. Ashley Neil Timpton proved it by winning Project Runway season 14 with a plus line. It’s about time we embrace and celebrate every type of body.

As for us, we give Mattel 5 stilettos for being fabulously fashion forward.
