Currently promoting her latest album, Confident, out now, and on the road with Nick Jonas for their Future Now tour, we’re reminded of the many times singer Demi Lovato encouraged us to slay in the body our momma’s gave us.

Throughout the past few years, the “Cool for the Summer” singer has used her voice to share her experiences with personal body image issues, including her own battle with an eating disorder.

As a singer, artist and activist we love Demi for regularly promoting body love and encouraging her fans to embrace their body just as it is.

Here are 7  times Demi Lovato proved to be the queen of body positivity long before it was a thing.

  1. “Whenever you start to judge your body, remember it’s keeping you alive.. so cherish it.”

  2. “Don’t workout because you think you need to, do it because your body deserves love, respect and healthy attention.”

  3. “I wish I could tell every young girl with an eating disorder, or who has harmed herself in any way, that she’s worthy of life and that her life has meaning. You can overcome and get through anything.”

  4. “It helps to even look in the mirror — and it sounds so cheesy — but if you just look in the mirror and say, ‘You are beautiful,’ and ‘You are worthy,’ those things really help you.”

  5. “Love is louder than the pressure to be perfect.”

  6. “If there’s anyone out here tonight that doesn’t feel beautiful enough, or doesn’t feel worthy enough … You’re wrong. Because you guys are all so incredible. And if you’re dealing with any of the issues that I’ve dealt with, don’t be afraid to speak up, because someone will be there for you. And if you think you’re alone, put on my music, because I’m going to be there for you.”
